We bring people together to spark conversations about cancer, encourage screening and early detection, support research, and build compassionate support for people facing treatment.
CONNECTION CHANGES WHAT IS POSSIBLEOUR MISSION
We honor our mom Maxine by turning our family’s loss into action for everyone affected by cancer. Awareness and early detection are critical in the battle against cancer and must come first, followed by support for research and compassionate patient support.
THE HUMAN STORY BEHIND THE NUMBERS
Women expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the United States in 2026
Men expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the United States in 2026
People expected to die from breast cancer in the United States in 2026
These are not just statistics. They represent mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends, coworkers, and families.
The Max Foundation believes awareness starts conversations, conversations can lead to screening, and earlier detection can give more people a fighting chance.

01 / OUR FIRST PRIORITY
When we talk openly about cancer, we can encourage the people we love to learn about screening and take action. Earlier detection can give someone a better fighting chance. If one conversation moves one person to get screened sooner, it matters.
Talk about cancer.
Get screened.
Encourage someone you love to get screened.

MAXINE’S STORY
Darran Matthews founded The Max Foundation after losing his mother, Maxine, to breast cancer, along with other family members and family friends who have battled cancer. While Maxine’s battle inspired the Foundation, our mission is for everyone affected by cancer, including people currently fighting, survivors, families, caregivers, and the people who love them.
Her legacy drives a larger purpose: creating awareness, encouraging earlier detection, supporting research, and helping create more survivors than victims. Every conversation, screening encouragement, and act of support moves us closer.

COMING SOON / IN DEVELOPMENT
During our family’s battle with cancer, we saw patients receiving chemotherapy alone, without a family member, friend, or loved one beside them. Chemotherapy can be a long process, and it can feel even longer when someone goes through it alone.
Chemo Concierge is a planned program centered on companionship, snacks, drinks, reading materials, comfort items, practical assistance, human connection, and sometimes simply having someone there to say hello.
